High School and Collegiate America titles named
SACO,ugg outlet, Maine Thornton Academy's Garland Auditorium in Saco was the setting for the fifth annual Maine Academic Scholarship Pageant and the Miss Maine Jr. High, High School and Collegiate Pageant on Aug. 17.
Forty young Maine women vied for their respective titles to take home more than $30,000 in prizes and the opportunity to represent the Unite Against Bullying ME project in Maine Schools.
Casey Lynn Bonville, 19, of Presque Isle, a University of Maine sophomore and dean list student, was crowned Miss Maine Collegiate 2014. Casey graced the stage also winning Miss Photogenic, the Facebook People's Choice Photo Contest, Runway Fashion,ugg australia, and tied for the Evening Gown portion of the competition. Casey attends UMFK, majoring in Business Management with a concentration in Entrepreneurship and is the daughter of Sandra and Fred Bonville. She also represented the organization as Miss Maine High School in 2012. Casey's first runner up was Abby Boissonneault of Saco.
Ameena Vizcarrondo, 15, of Eastport, a Washington Academy sophomore and high honor student in East Machias was crowned Miss Maine High School 2014. She plays soccer, basketball and is on the track and field team. She is a member of the STARZ team at WA (Students Teaching About Respect). Ameena was also instrumental in starting a civil rights team at her Elementary School. She is very actively involved in her community as a volunteer. Ameena was previously the first Miss Maine's Jr. High two years ago and is the daughter of Christina Vizcarrondo. Alexis Wintle of Windham was Ameena's first runner up.
Taylor Maree Bridges, 11, of Machiasport,ugg outlet, a fifth grade high honor student at Rose M. Gaffney Elementary School in Machias, was crowned Miss Maine Junior High 2014 . Sameena Flinner of Buxton, the outgoing Miss Maine Elementary, was the first runner up.
Casey, Ameena and Taylor were presented a prize package worth more than $10,ugg scarpe,000, which includes an all expense paid trip to Orlando, Fla., in July 2014 to compete at the National Miss Jr. High,ugg italia, High School and Collegiate America pageant.
Earlier in the afternoon at the Maine Academic Scholarship pageant, McKensi Mills was crowned the 2014 Miss Maine Elementary. McKensi, a fifth grader at Cherryfield Elementary, is from Pleasant River Lake in Cherryfield. Well known as "Mouse," she is involved in gymnastics and cheering. She is the daughter of Christopher and Crystal Perry and Clark and Erin Mills. McKensi was also second runner up to Taylor in the Miss Jr. High division. Delaney Alward of Mapleton was named first runner up for Miss Maine Elementary and won an award for the Facebook People's Choice Photo Contest.
Brooklyn McCarthy, 6, from Princeton, was crowned Miss Maine Primary 2014. She is a second grader at Indian Township School. Brooklyn is the daughter of Christopher and Dachelle McCarthy and the granddaughter of Christopher and Denise Polches, Robert and Cynthia Newton, Herman and Debbie Venneman. She cheers with the Eastern Maine Elite All Star team, and is very excited to start her reigning year and the fight against bullying with her new title. She would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported her and made this dream come true.
Emily Collins, 4, of Mapleton was crowned Miss Maine Pre School 2014 and will begin school this year in a Pre K program at Mapleton Elementary School. She is the daughter of Darren and Michelle Collins. Emily is so excited to start her pageant and community service career with her first state title.
